Did you know that people buy a lot of horses to kill for food from sale yards after their owners no longer want them?
We know because we “Rescue Horse Foster Homes” (RHFH) is trying to change that outcome for as many horses as possible, by rehoming them before they are bought for food.
Our charity bids for the horses for sale in sale yards in order to save their lives, but this comes at a huge cost to our charity. We have to buy the horse, pay to transport it to its new home, and arrange for a permanent home with a new owners. We have to procure food, money and volunteers all from our donations received, as we get no government support.
Our group Rescue Horse Foster Homes is wholly volunteer registered charity and we do this because we are passionate about horses.
We believe horses are beautiful animals with feelings and intelligence, and deserve a long happy, healthy life. So far our charity has been responsible for saving over 250 horses destined to become dog food. These horses were often still young, healthy and with much to live for.
We want to make sure horses
are not just bred and sold off for food.
